This year’s theme of the National Book Week is “Basa. Bayan. Bukas” which gives more emphasis on the value of reading, to encourage reading and literacy and to recognize the critical function of libraries in imparting knowledge to the people.

After two years of hiatus, the Booktivity 2022 was warmly welcomed by Trinitarians last November 16 to 18, generating warm support to the activities spearheaded by the BCU Learning Resource Center.

The librarian of each department made sure that Trinitarians were treated to a day of fun and activity. Students from the preschool and elementary departments got to wear their favorite book character costumes and got the chance to parade on stage as their classmates, teachers and parents cheered for them.

Representatives from each grade from the level 2 students competed in the Book Jeopardy and story writing contests while the high schools students had their Jeopardy Bingo, Bookstagram and Design a Book cover activities.

Even though interest in reading is waning in today’s world due to teenagers’ preference for social media and online games, still there is a need to give emphasis on the value of reading and to keep schoolchildren’s reading habits alive.
