Bacolod Trinity Christian School (BTCS) strengthened its commitment to student well-being as faculty and staff participated in a seminar titled “Decoding Adolescence: Building Preparedness for Teen Mental Health in Schools” on Aug. 7 at the school’s Multimedia Laboratory.
The seminar, facilitated by Dr. Lia Carmela Y. Delfin-Young, focused on helping educators better understand the complexities of adolescence and respond appropriately to the mental health needs of teenagers.
Among the topics discussed were adolescent development, recognizing signs of mental health concerns, the use of the HEEADSSS framework, effective communication with teenagers, and appropriate school-based responses to mental health concerns.
Through the seminar, faculty and staff gained practical knowledge and strategies that can help them become more responsive to students’ emotional and mental well-being. The activity also highlighted the important role of educators in creating a safe, supportive, and caring school environment where students feel heard, understood, and supported.
